WHAT: Single family home on lakefront property on Long Island

CHALLENGE: Tight restrictions on footprint and setbacks; neighbors are very close
on three sides; built for client who might want to live there or sell it on spec.

STRATEGY:  With two solid volumes on either side, the completely open center directs the views and gives privacy to the otherwise open living space. The “folded” ceiling first compresses and then opens up the view to the lake. The wooden ceiling slats continue the siding, reinforcing the concept of a wood cube with one side “folded in and up”.
