Penthouse Addition
WHAT: Conversion of a limestone row house into condos with new penthouse addition.
CHALLENGE: Maximizing FAR under zoning; balancing the new and the old.
STRATEGY: Two duplexes enlarge the building without adding visual weight; The more intact Parlor Floor unit is restored with old details while the others are modern.

The clean and simple interior acts as backdrop to the ornate facades across the street.
The penthouse stairs bring light into the center of the floor below.
